I am an Oracle Applications Developer for County in Vancouver, Washington and my wife was a Java Programmer.
We knew that we loved to eat great food and we enjoyed preparing meals together. My philosophy has always been that it is not just the recipe but also the heart and soul that you put into preparing a meal. A wonderful meal shared with loved ones is heaven on earth.
Over a year ago, a friend and I were driving around the Milwaukie area looking at real estate for sale. He was planning to buy a home for his family and wanted my opinion on several properties. I had just finished building my home and during the process had become very well acquainted with the local real estate market. We happened to drive by a property for sale on Park Avenue and decided to stop and take a look. It appeared to be an older house that had been added on to during it’ s lengthy past.
I loved the charm of the property. Good karma and energy seemed to radiate from the property despite the obvious need for a complete renovation. We knew that someone would need to spend a lot of time and energy to make the house a home.
We decided to continue on our search and began driving on McLoughlin Blvd to see what other properties were for sale in the area. As we were going past the property we had just visited, I noticed a neon sign on the house. Of course, we thought it was very unusual that a residential property would have a neon sign on its roof. Intrigued, we went back to the property to take another look. We realized that the first floor of the house was actually a restaurant.
The realization that it was a restaurant awakened an old dream of owning my own restaurant when I retired. I had always envisioned a warm and welcoming atmosphere where great food and wonderful customers would lead to a fulfilling and enriched retirement. Little did I know that this dream would become a reality so early in my career.
The rest you could say is history. Although we were concerned about taking on an additional mortgage, we bought the restaurant on July 7th, 2004. We knew that we needed to open the restaurant in eight weeks in order to relieve some of the financial burdens. My wife and I as well as our friends spent long hours renovating the restaurant and on August 18th, 2004 we were open for business.
My old dream has been fulfilled and owning a restaurant has enriched our lives. I feel blessed to sit on the deck chatting with friends with the aroma of great curry wafting through the air.
If you are in the mood for great authentic Indian food, please join our family at our restaurant. Your meal and time with us will be a delight to the senses.
Best Regards.
